WHO, WHAT, WHY?!
We created Her Data Method to educate business owners on the value of data—and more importantly, how to collect it. Her Data Method is a series of online courses that teaches female business owners how to build a data collection framework to help them make smart, data-driven decisions tailored to their specific business.


WHO IS HDM?
As founders of Virtual Collective (a company that builds and manages virtual teams for clients who need digital services), we kept seeing our clients struggle to provide information about their business in terms of measurable data: page views, customer profiles, keywords, etc. It was clear that they either didn’t see the value of data (gasp!) or they simply didn’t know where or how to gather it. The solution to this problem evolved into us creating Her Data Method.

SHANNON WARE

Shannon has a knack for taming chaos with her organizational skills. She has a decade of project management experience and oversees the Virtual Collective Network of freelance contractors. She builds virtual teams tailored to a client’s individual needs, but she also started noticing the same problem kept derailing their projects and frustrating both clients and team members – a lack of concrete data necessary to make smart marketing decisions. While she admits that understanding the nuances of digital data does not rank very high on her list of things that excite her, she believes it is crucial to have the right data available in order to produce successful results for our clients. She has worked with Melody on Her Data Method to create an easy to understand course that will walk you through each phase of the data collection process.
Shannon has two daughters, Elsie (7) and Maisie (3) and lives in Nashville, TN with her husband Benji.

MELODY JENNINGS BOWERS

Melody is on a mission to teach small business owners how to access and understand digital data so they can make better business decisions. She became hooked on data when she started seeing results from implementing SEO strategies after launching their first website for their company. When she saw how their clients were struggling with many of the same issues she wanted to figure out a better way to explain why data matters. Calling on her background in education she began trying new ways to teach clients how to identify the data that they needed to start collecting in order to establish a solid foundation they can use to grow their businesses too. She and Shannon collaborated with several team members from the Virtual Collective Network to create Her Data Method so now you too can say, “Data made me do it.”
Melody lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her two (almost independent, but still always hungry!) kids, Mary (20) and Luke (17), and her faithful dog Rose.
WHY HER?
Because we know firsthand that being a woman in business isn’t easy. During a successful round of crowdfunding on iFundWomen.com, we found a community of like-minded female founders who wanted a safe place to ask the questions that have been holding them back from growing their business.
It’s not that men don’t have their challenges with data too. It’s just that women are expected to be everything to everyone, every day. Our primary goal is to give back to all of the hard-working ladies and provide easy-to-understand courses that teach about the complicated world of data, but we welcome any men who want to participate in our community of empowered women on a mission.
